We're an independent, family-run practice based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire since 1988. We pride ourselves on a personal service where each patient is treated as an individual.

Eye examinations
Both NHS and private examinations are available. Every eye examination is carried out personally by Russell Needleman, so you'll see the same familiar face each visit.

Contact lens fittings
All contact lens fittings are also carried out by Russell, with the care and time needed to find the right lenses for you.

Optomap retinal imaging
Since 2013 we've offered Optomap — one of the most advanced technologies in eye care — and we recommend that all patients have one regularly.
Free NHS eye tests
Are you eligible?
NHS eye tests are available to:
- Anyone under 16
- Anyone under 19 and in full-time education
- Anyone aged 60 or over
- Anyone who is diabetic or has glaucoma
- A child or sibling of someone with glaucoma
- Anyone receiving Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance or Pension Credit
